How to Enter and Transmit a Future Lab Order
In order to send lab orders out of ReLiMed EMR, you will need an Encounter. We recommend adding a “Lab Order Only” appointment type and making it Non-billable.
To Order Future Lab:

- From Patient Chart -> Encounter, you can use “+ New Encounter” button on right hand side above encounter list and choose “Lab Order Only” appointment type *This is a non-billable encounter, so no claim will be created even when you have the Billing module
- Go to Assessment screen to add any diagnosis codes if applicable
- Go to Plan -> Labs screen to enter your lab orders and transmit, close encounter
- When you are reviewing lab results with the patient, we recommend you re-map the result to the latest encounter. Normally, the lab order and the results for those orders will be attached to the original Lab Order Only encounter. You can re-map them to the current encounter where you will be discussing the labs with the patient in a few different places:
- From the Encounters screen as you have currently selected today’s encounter, you can click on the paper clip icon by the Lab Result to attach that lab result to today’s encounter. The arrow will pop-out the result for easier viewing:
- From today’s encounter: Plan -> Labs screen the View Results “Attach Lab”
- From Patient Chart -> Patient Documents -> eLabs, then you can see the current encounter it is attached to and change it by clicking on “Attach To”
