If you need to add a medication to a chart that you did not prescribe but an outside provider prescribed this for a patient, you can follow these 2 workflows.
- You can add these if the Surescripts database has record of other medications sent to pharmacies received by other providers for this patient.
-You will go to the medications tab in a chart.
-At the top right-hand corner, you should see a ‘Med Hx’ button.

-Once this pop up comes up, you will go to ‘Surescripts Med Hx’ tab at the top. Then click refresh.

-If Surescripts database has any record of past medication you will see a list of these below. Any you would like to import into the chart you will select the check box next to the medication and click ‘Add to Patient’
* When you see the green checkmark rather than the checkbox to select yourself, that means this medication is already in the patient’s chart within ReLiMed. Either this was added from this list in the past, or this is a medication a prescriber within ReLiMed transmitted within the system.
-Once you have checked the medication and selected ‘add to patient’, now in the chart you will see this has been added in the status ‘Prescribed Elsewhere’.

- If you are unable to find the medication by following the first workflow, this must be due to when the medication was prescribed by the other provider, this was not updated to the Surescripts database. You can manually add ‘prescribed elsewhere’ medications. This is very similar to your normal workflow when adding a medication in a patients chart, but instead of transmitting this, you will want to check an extra box to set this as ‘Prescribed elsewhere’.
-You will first search for the medication in the chart, then add the sig to match what the patient was prescribed.
-Then before you select ‘Prescribe/Add’ to add this to the chart, you will see to the left of the ‘Prescribe/Add’ button is a check box ‘Prescribed Elsewhere’.

-You will check this box and then select ‘Prescribe/Add’.
-Once added you will see the medication in the status ‘Prescribed Elsewhere’.
