How to Delete a Patient Entered in Error

 

As long as you do not have any Encounters or data such as Documents attached, you will be able to delete the patient. If you do have encounter, you may wish to Merge the patient into another patient chart, if this one was added as a duplicate chart. See the topic on Merge Patient for instructions on how to Merge.

 

1. From the Patient Chart -> Patient Info tab, go to the Demographics screen of the patient you wish to delete:

 

 

For this example, a message is shown that this patient has a document attached and it must be deleted first:

 

 

Once we go to Patient Documents, select the document and use the Delete key, we can come back to the Patient Demographics screen and try to delete again.
