When you have to get pre-authorization for services and need to keep track of these along with recording the authorization number to send on the claim, you can enter and track these through Patient Insurance.
- From Patient Insurance screen, select the appropriate insurance record on the top and then select “Authorization Tracking” tab on the bottom left.
- Enter the following fields by clicking directly in each cell
- Authorization type: can be any label like “EAP” or could also include the year like “EAP 2022”
- Authorization Number: This is the number that the insurance company provides that must go on the claims
- Visits allowed: Number of sessions/visits the insurance is pre-authorizing
- Start Date and End Date: defines when the visits have to take place
- Encounter Dates (OPTIONAL) You can use this cell to choose and select the particular dates of service of the patient, so the system will count down the number remaining for you.
