Device: Epson Scan 2

Type: Scanner

Problem: Memory Issue

Error Message: "Not enough memory for Epson Scan 2. Close other applications and try again."

This is a common error message for Epson Scanners related to available RAM. This can be caused by a computer being on for an extended period of time, too many applications being open, background applications using up too much RAM, multiple scans being done at a time, scanned images being too high resolution, or saved macros taking up space on the scanner itself.

Potential Solutions:

  • Check task manager:
    • See how much RAM is available
    • Close unnecessary applications
    • Check for unnecessary and/or duplicate background applications that could be eating up RAM
    • Check computer uptime to see if a restart is needed
  • Go to the scanner's settings to lower scanned image resolution
  • Delete any macros added to the scanner such as specialized fonts
  • Make sure there are no concurrent print/scan jobs happening
  • Turn the scanner off and back on to clear memory
