The purpose of this screen is to be able to export patients in an exchangeable format (CCDA) with other certified EMRs. When you generate a CCDA for a patient which is a clinical summary in a specific file format of xml, it should be able to be imported to any other EMR that is ONC certified.

This can be useful when transferring patients from one system to another.

  1. Navigate to Admin -> Admin -> Medical Records Request (CCD) screen
  2. At the top is some search criteria to pull the set of patients you wish to export

You have the option of selecting one particular patient, a patient list or all patients.

You can also limit clinical information for these patients selected with the date range.

  1. You first should check to see if you are set up to receive an automated message when this job is complete. Do this from Admin -> Messaging screen, select the "Medical Record Request Completion" message type on the left side, then select the appropriate receivers on the right and then be sure to select "Save"

  1. By default, when you select the "Generate Now" button, this request will be queued to run immediately.

However, you can select "Advanced Settings" and schedule this for a later time:

  1. This new request will appear in the grid below in the Pending Status:

NOTE: If you choose one patient only, the system will prompt you to select a folder on your local file system to store the one new file to.

  1. One the job is Complete, you will receive the message if step up in Step 3 prior:

  1. The final step is to use the "Download" button to download the zipped folder to your local file system:

Once you extract all the files from the zipped folder, you will see an xml file and an html file for every patient labeled with the patient's MRNumber. The xml file is the importable file and the html file is a "human readable" version of the file that you can double-click on to open in a browser window. To be able to view that html file appropriately, you need to also keep the one stylesheet file labeled "cda.xsl"
