New Drug Database Vendor Changes: Release 7.3.3
print icon

ReLi Med Solutions eRx Module drug database vendor has been replaced with a new vendor, First Data Bank (FDB). The former drug database vendor, Lexi-Comp, has decided to sunset their product. First Data Bank is widely used throughout the nation. You will see minimal changes in the medications and allergies workflow.

However, we did want to document some small changes you may come across:

Medication Search Improvements

  • Previously, the first 3 characters typed in were used to match a medication name that begins with that combination. Now the system will utilize that combination and search through all words of the medication name. Notice the system gives you some instruction when you click on the Rx box:

Things to Look Out For

  • You may get a similar drug substitution with a different name if an existing medication was not found exactly how it was named/labeled previously. For example, the system will show you the match it made. It will be highlighted in yellow ad have a notification icon (!). This can happen while the following actions are performed on an existing medication: Copy, Edit, or Refill.

Prescribers can select the small button “!” to see more information in a pop-up window:

In some cases it could just be a more subtle name change:

  • Some favorites may not match the name exactly in the new database and will be updated with the new name.

The prescriber will see the following pop-up when this is selected to prescribe. Then the favorite will be updated for future use.

  • Uncoded and misspelled drug allergens are now categorized as “Environmental” allergens. An alert has been added to the patient chart to bring this to your attention. You will notice this with a new enhancement that allows users to hover over allergies in the top right corner of Patient Chart and see a tooltip as shown below.

In this example, Suprax was previously entered as a drug allergen, but was not properly coded from the previous drug vendor. It is recommended that you should review any allergen displaying like this.

On the Allergies screen:

  • Side Effects and Dosage Help tabs are no longer available, but Interactions and Warnings tabs are still available:

  • All commonly used Signas come from the prescribers in your system only. There is no longer the possibility of the system showing you one from the drug database.
