Viewing patients insurance verification and updating copays/ deductibles

When verifying a patient’s insurance will be able to review the types of coverages, copays, and deductibles for this patient in real time. Also, any other important information that pertains to this patient benefits and coverage.

When the verification pops up and shows active you will be able to review the following tabs shown above. Other payors will also include a deductible tab, etc you can review as well.

-You may even see ‘Contact other entity’ if this payor listed is only for billing purposes (usually this is indicated on the back of the insurance card itself where to bill a claim to vs. who to contact for eligibility) but must call the other payor itself to verify eligibility and benefits as some payors do not have electronic capability to verify these in the system.

-Other times you may need to click on the ‘Details’ tab in case you get a warning, and this may provide you with more insight regarding that warning if you do not see ‘Contact other entity’.

-If you have added an insurance policy as primary level/ secondary level but this is incorrect but active policy, you may see a warning with details pertaining to what the patients correct primary/ secondary insurance is. This also is listed with policy information for the correct primary or secondary under the ‘Details’ à ‘Other or Additional Plan Coverage’ tab above in the verification pop up.

-For the normal copay and deductibles for the patients benefits you will do the following.

You will need to click the arrow next to each tab to review the subtabs for what a specific type of appointments copay or deductibles are for this patient.

On the bottom half of the verification pop up maybe accurate but it’s always a good rule of thumb to check the tabs above for each appointment since the bottom half of this is manually entered by a user so information could change from time to time if the patient has the same insurance for multiple years, etc.

-To edit these fields, you can type directly in these boxes and update with correct information then save. Or from the insurance tab itself when you have selected the insurance you can go into the field to edit and save the needed information.

Once saved when you verify this patient’s insurance the next time you will see these fields updated to the correct copay to easily see without having to go into the copay tab above in the verification pop up.
